I bought this version of the laptop in November 2013 and a few days later I had to return it because the WiFi would not work. I got my second one and the WiFi worked for about 6 months. For months I thought it was Time Warner Cable and I would argue with them time after time doing speed test after speed test and sending me a new router. So then I started calling Tech Support for both Microsoft and HP and got the run around. Finally the place where I bought told me it was HP. So again I called Tech Support and they finally agreed that it was their hardware they began helping me. Each of their solutions would last for a months. FInally the WiFI just flat stopped working. After arguing with them about how long this problem has been going they finally agreed to fix it even though the 1 yr Warrenty had expired. They had me send it off to the facotry or HP repair shop for 7 days. Here they replaced 3 or 4 items. This worked for about 8 months. I have been asking for help but again they want to be paid for knowledge even though the probem was never really solved. I have been trying use this Forum for help but I cannot find anything.
HP Envy dv6 Notebook PC
Windows 10 64-bit
OS Build 14393-.321
Intel (R) Core (TM) i5--3230M CPU @ 2.60 GHz 2.60GHz
That I am aware of the Updates have been installed as they took place on 10/12 and today is 10/14.
When I plug into an Ethernet connection it works great. The WiFi will work like a champion for months at a time and then all of a sudden it will show that I am plugged into an Ethernet connection with no service; when I am actually trying to use WiFi. The WiFi button/light (F12) will show to be Orange (which means the WiFi should be off and in Airplane mode) but the laptop does not reflect this. Just like right now when I am not plugged into the ethernet the light is orange, but the internet connection shows that I am plugged into the ethernet without connection. When I do plug in the Ethernet everything is great. This happens at my home or when I travel and try ot connect to hotel WiFi.
Bottom line:
No Wifi connection will take place or it drops constantly
The Internet Access icon will show that I am connected via Ethernet with no connection when I am actually trying to use the WiFi.
