I do an update to Windows 8.1 and now I have a problem with Realtek ethernet driver, which not working. If I look into Device manager I see an error for Realtek ethernet driver:
"Your computer's system firmware does not include enough information to properly configure and use this device. To use this device, contact your computer manufacturer to obtain a firmware or BIOS update. (Code 35)"
I have last version of bios: F.26
I try to install driver from HP site: 8.3.730.2012 HP driver
also I try with Microsoft driver: 8.1.510.2013
Ethernet is working well in other OS.

Install the New Bios its compatible for HP 655
HP Notebook System BIOS Update (AMD Processors)

Hi I have updated the PCIe Lan card to latest driver for Windows 8.1.
Recieve error code 35 in Device manger.
Your computer's system firmware does not include enough information to properly configure and use this device. To use this device, contact your computer manufacturer to obtain a firmware or BIOS update. (Code 35). I have the latest BIOS Update using HP Support Assistant.
This I belive is not a driver issue but a System BIOS. Lan card recognised and enabled in BIOS. No iterchange beteen BIOS and driver.

See if installing the driver directly from Realtek works.
Download and install the 5th file on the list.
If that doesn't work, then unfortunately, the issue is beyond my knowledge to resolve.

I have the same issue, since Windows 8.1 upgrade, as described on this thread. Can someone from HP confirm that this issue is being addressed, as I assume it will affect all customers with this model.

This is a consumer to consumer forum. No one can speak here on behalf of HP.
If your notebook is still under warranty, I would contact HP technical support and report the problem.
I have contacted the HP administrators of this forum, and requested they bring this matter to the attention of the HP engineers on the business PC side of the house.
That is the best I can do for you here.

I've managed to resolve my issue since my original post. I uninstalled the LAN in Device Manager, whilst not removing the drivers, rebooted the laptop, and it then detected and installed the device correctly. There must have been some kind of plug and play niggle during the update to Windows 8.1 that can resolve itself post-install.
