When I tried to establish a connection with the settings menu, I got the message "looking for wireless router" in an endless loop. Then tried the WPS button on the router and the error message above appeared.  Any suggestions as to where to go from here?

I understand you are getting the error code "B8E33A" on the HP ENVY Photo 7858 All-In-One Printer typically indicates an issue with establishing a wireless connection to the router. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

 

1. Restart Devices

  • Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Router: Restart your router by unplugging it, waiting for about 30 seconds, and plugging it back in.
  • Computer: Restart your computer.

2. Check Wireless Network

  • Ensure that your wireless network is functioning correctly. Verify that other devices can connect to the Wi-Fi without issues.
  • Make sure the router is not too far from the printer. Ideally, they should be in the same room or within close proximity.

3. Use the HP Smart App

  • Download and install the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
  • Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to connect your printer to the wireless network. The app can often resolve connectivity issues that manual setups cannot.

4. Manual Wireless Setup

  1. On the printer's control panel, go to Settings > Network Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to select your wireless network and enter the password.
  3. If the printer fails to connect and gives the error "B8E33A" again, try the following steps:

5. WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) Method

  • Ensure WPS is enabled on your router (check the router's manual if needed).
  • On the printer's control panel, go to Settings > Network Settings > Wi-Fi Protected Setup.
  • Choose Push Button, then go to your router and press the WPS button within two minutes.
  • The printer should connect to the network. If it doesn’t, proceed to the next step.

6. Check Router Settings

  • Ensure your router’s SSID (network name) is broadcasted and not hidden.
  • Check if MAC address filtering is enabled on your router. If it is, add your printer's MAC address to the list of allowed devices.
  • Verify that your router is not set to a mode that the printer doesn’t support (e.g., some printers may not support 5 GHz networks, only 2.4 GHz).

7. Firmware Update

  • Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can update it via the printer’s control panel or the HP Smart app.

8. Reset Network Settings

  • Reset the network settings on your printer. Go to Settings > Network Settings > Restore Network Settings.
  • After resetting, try connecting to the wireless network again.

9. HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor. This tool can automatically diagnose and fix many issues with your printer.
