The PC was originally on Windows 8, then 8.1, and now 10.
It has always been used with wi-fi which works OK but I now need to use Lan ethernet connection.
In Device Manager this has a yellow warning flag against the Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller.
Right clicking this and selecting properties brings up the message:
"Your computer's system firmware does not include enough information to properly configure and use this device. To use this device, contact your computer manufacturer to obtain a firmware or BIOS update (Code35)"
I have updated the Realtek driver from 9.1.404.2015 to 10.3.723.2015 but still don't get a connection.
The Computer BIOS is Insyde F,13 07/09/2012 which is probably the problem
When I go to the HP BIOS update page http://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c00042629#AbT0 it only gives options under "select operating system" for Windows versions up to Windows 8.1 (64bit)
My question is: given that my system is Windows 10 Pro, is it safe to update the BIOS using the Windows 8.1 (64bit) option?
Thanks
