Pavilion G7 2296NR
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello,

My laptop auto updated to windows 10 and I did not like it. I was also having a lot of issues so decided to start fresh and go back to windows 7. I reinstalled Windows 7 proffesional 64 bit. It is working great but I can not seem to find the correct wireless driver.

I have tried all of the ones listed for this model, as well as some I found listed under 2000 series and still no luck. There are some other drivers missing as well. Looking for any help. I tried a post that had me reset bios to default, worked for some but not for me. Tried a post that had me go through recovery, options they said to use were not there though.

I never had issues before and this is not the first time I started fresh and had to reinstall the drivers, in the past though everything I got, from the HP support drivers lists, worked fine.

Here is an image of the drivers that are missing:

Thanks,

Charles

Hi, Charles:

You need these drivers...

For the smbus and usb controllers, download and install the amd chipset drivers and restart the PC.  You want the first driver listed on the webpage.

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windows%207%20-%2064

The parts list for your notebook indicates that it comes with an Atheros AR9485 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi adapter.

You need this driver for that model wlan card...

This package provides the driver to support the Atheros Wireless LAN adapter in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system.

The unknown device probably needs this driver...

This package provides the HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection Software (HP 3D Driveguard) for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. The HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection Software (HP 3D Driveguard) protects the hard drive by "parking the heads" if the notebook is accidentally dropped, or is abruptly impacted by another object.
