See p. 55 of the Service Manual here for "how to" and list of compatible wifi cards:
http://www.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02834058.pdf
You cannot use the ones for Intel models so here is the best available item that is compatible:
Broadcom 4313GN 802.11b/g/n 1×1 WiFi and 20702 Bluetooth 4.0 Combo Adapter 657325-001
Let us know if you need more help. If you do not have Bluetooth this module will add it so you would need to remove the card you have, insert this one and be prepared to load both the Broadcom wi-fi and bluetooth drivers when prompted. Might be best to have those drivers ready on a thumb drive. Post back if you need links.

Need the full model number of the laptop and we need to identify the wireless card type (Intel, Broadcom, etc). Have you looked in device manager to see how the wireless card appears there? The wireless card may need replaced. It can even be a virus that is blocking the driver from loading right. Lots of potential answers.

Wireless cards do go bad and they are inexpensive and easy to replace. It would also give you the chance to install something a little better although your options are limited by the HP whitelist. Where are you located (country)? And do you want to try replacing the wireless card?
