I've a HP Mini 210-1000 Netbook running on Windows 7 (32-bit) Starter. I'd like to know if I am able to upgrade the netbook to Windows 7 (64-bit) Home Basic. If I can upgrade the OS, am I able to upgrade the RAM to 4GB or 8GB? Is the motherboard limiting the maximum allowable RAM to 2GB? Thanks.

Hi:

The processor in your notebook can only run a 32 bit operating system and the maximum memory you can install is 2 GB (by removing and replacing the 1 GB chip with a 2 GB chip).

Please see the service manual at the link below for more info.

So do you mean the motherboard limits the maximum RAM to 2GB? If I upgrade to Win 7 32-bit Home Basic or Preimum, will I be able to install the 4GB RAM?

HP Recommended

Actually the processor limits the memory to a max of 2 GB.

There is nothing you can do to install 4 GB of memory in that machine.
