I currently own a Compaq Presario C700 Laptop (C751NR / Product Number KC590UA#ABA) with 2GB RAM installed. 2GB appears to be the maximum supported RAM although the BIOS will detect 4GB. The InsydeH20 BIOS is the F.22 version. Will updating the BIOS to the F.35 version allow me to add an additional 2GB of RAM to this machine?

The reason I just have not downloaded the update and installed it is that it's just not that simple when running Linux.

Thanks!

Hi:

If you read all of the BIOS release notes for your model at the link below, you will see that none of them add support for more memory.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/previousVersions?softwareitem=ob-90323-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=20...

The max is 2 x 1 GB, and it does not appear that a BIOS update will make any difference.

Also, you have to be running a supported operating system to flash the BIOS on HP consumer notebooks.
