Back up all the personal data to an external drive if it's possible. Otherwise you could connect the failed HDD via SATA to USB adapter with another PC or same PC after replacement of HDD & re-installation of OS and try copying /recovering the files.

Let me know how it goes

Dear Customer

Welcome and Thank you for posting your query on HP Support Forum

According to the error message you have posted I suspect there could be a hardware issue on your Notebook

It could be possible that the Hard Drive on the Notebook could be corrupted or it might have bad sectors

Please perform the Steps as shown below:-

1. Please "Turn OFF" the Notebook

2. "Power ON" the Notebook and keep tapping the Escape Key during the start up to enter the Start-up Menu

3. Now here, Please select the BIOS option [F10] and under the Advanced or Diagnostic tab

4. You should find the facility to run tests on both the Hard Disk Drive and Memory

Note: Please perform these two tests and post back with the details of any error messages

Please click on the link shown below to find the steps involved in performing a Hard Drive Test

Thanks for the quick reply
I've already done that, memory test was completed successfully.
Quick hard disk test also passed , but complete hard disk stopped at 96% , it said
Hard disk test (305)
Any other thing I can do?

According to the recent you have posted I would like to confirm that the Hard Drive on your Notebook has become faulty and needs a replacement. The Error Message "Hard disk test [305]" confirms the hardware fault

Please Contact HP if your HP Notebook is under warranty, HP would replace the Hard Disk Drive and provide you a Recovery media to restore factory operating system after replacement (if you've not yet created Recovery Discs/USB Media)

You can also Check your warranty Here to verify the warranty status

I'm really shattered
Is there any hope recovering all my precious data from this hard drive?
Or is it gone for ever?
What can I do as my laptop has no valid warranty at the moment?
Thanks for your help KNRK

Hi
I removed the hdd from the laptop , I put it in an enclosure device and connected it to another laptop.
It was able to recognize the 15gb partition ( D:recovery drive) but the rest of 320gb (C:) couldnt read from it.
And a message came on screen saying that if I wanted to use this drive I need to format it - yes/no.
So I canceled that message.
I'm really desperate , Any other suggestions on how can I recover what's on the C: drive ?
