It appears the serial number for my laptop can be found in the battery compartment.  How do I open it - or is there another way to determine the serial number?

Hi,

Here's another option you could try.

Shutdown the notebook.

Tap away at the esc key as soon as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and the select f10 to enter the Bios Menu - information including the Serial No. should be listed on the first tab.

The support engineer here at the company, suggested:

1. Open a command prompt. Press Windows+R, then type cmd.

2. Type this command: wmic bios get serialnumber.

I prefer your solution, that avoid user to shutdown his computer and avoid them entering into the Bios...

Simplified it by launching the run command <Windows+R>   then   "cmd /k wmic bios get serialnumber"
