How to disable turning off the touchpad?

I just got this laptop and it is driving me bonkers.

I tap all over the touchpad, and I hit the area where you can turn off the touchpad about 1,000 times a day. No matter if I do what it says, I can't get it tap back on.

I have to hit the windows key on my KB.  Type mouse in the search bar.  Tab and then arrow key over to enable it again and it is driving me nuts! I use this for business as well as personal use.

I see you where you can disable the touchpad, I don't want that.  I want to disable the area of the touchpad where you tap it to turn it on and off.  This is a design flaw to me.

Thanks for any help that can be provided.

Re: How to disable turning off the touchpad?

Hello stillrivers,

I see that you're having an issue with the touchpad not disabling. Did you by any chance take a look at the post that explains how to disable the touchpad?

If you didn't by any chance I will re-post the reply here:

To Do that...

Go to the control panel.

·         Go to Mouse Properties windows and click on Device Settings

·         Highlight Synaptic Touchpad  and Click settings

·         In the Properties for Synaptic Touchpad Windows, on the left and panel you will see Touchpad Disable Zone, Click on it.

·         Uncheck 'Double Tap to Enable or disable Touchpad'

·         Click OK

If this doesn't work by any chance let me know. Also, if you have any more questions please ask me.

You can do that by unchecking 'Double Tap to Enable or disable Touchpad' in Synaptics setting windows...

To Do that...

  • Go to Mouse Properties windows and click on Device Settings
  • Highlight Synaptics Touchpad  and Click settings
  • In the Properties for Synaptics Touchpad Windows, on the left and panel you will see Touchpad Disable Zone, Click on it.
  • Uncheck 'Double Tap to Enable or disable Touchpad'
  • Click OK

Re: How to disable turning off the touchpad?

Hi... I would just like to ask what possible reasons that my 'TouchPad Disable Zone' not working? I have my new HP Mini 210 laptop. On the first time I used it, it functioned properly when i tap it 2x. But it doesn't work now.

Hope you know why... Is it damaged or defective already? I'm so confused about it.

Thanks a lot! Smiley Happy

Re: How to disable turning off the touchpad?

When I go to turn off the touchpad, I click on device settings and my computer says not responding and closes out.  Is there another way to turn off the touchpad?
