Removing the fingerprint ID option

I no longer want to have to use the fingerprint to access my computer, as I will be sharing it.

I cannot find directions for disabling this feature.

My computer is Pavilion dv7-4060us notebook with HP Simplepass software.

Please point me in the right direction!

Re: Removing the fingerprint ID option

Digital Persona is the Publisher.

I just don't want to use the fingerprint when I logon for a few months.

I would like to disable the software rather than remove it. If possible I would like to disable for a few days, enable, then disable again when my friend needs to use my computer. If that is not possible, or if it is too complicated, then I just want to turn fingerprint recognition OFF.

Thank you for your quick response.

OK, In that case, the only way to disable fingerprint reader would be by disabling it in Device manager....or the other solution would be install HP SimplePass from Egis Technology for here ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp47501-48000/sp47904.exe

That will give you an option of disabling without the need to disabling the fingerprint reader in device manager or uninstalling it.

Re: Removing the fingerprint ID option

I downloaded the file, BUT my computer would not allow it to install.  This fingerprint idea is an excellent concept, but it consistently refuses to read my fingerprint.  I wish I could stop it from popping up on my screen every time I enter a password to access a website.

Re: Removing the fingerprint ID option

Hello jevint,

You don’t want fingerprint reader asking you to store your passwords.

You can go to control panel and uninstall HP simple pass and you will not get the pop up anymore.

Here is a link to uninstall a program.

Let me know how everything goes.

Have a good day.
