Printer prints 1st side, flips paper, then sends out a blank 2nd side. This happens with printing directly from the computer, e.g. an e mail or from my scanner (Canoscan LIDE 25). Would loading a "Basic" driver possibly solve this problem?
If so, what is the procedure for downloading the "Basic" driver?

After 6 days of reading HP material I was getting ready to restore...but, for security I decided to try printing on both sides again. I selected, fortunately, an e mail that was too long to be printed on one side of the paper. The document came out of the printer printed on both sides.
My initial understanding of two sided printing was that whatever information was on the document I was trying to print
would be printed on both sides of the paper (don't ask why I would want duplicate information on two sides of the paper)
To me, it appears all is working, and has been all along. Maybe HP might add a sentence or two in the Users Guide that advises users of situations where 2 sided printing is available , Thanks for your advise of not to load Basic driver..probably saved me from additional conundrums.

Hi Kris4klawd,
The duplexer is an accessory for the Officejet Pro 8100. After installing the duplexer you need to turn it on in the printer driver.
- Click Start, and then click Printers or Printers and Faxes or Devices and Printers.
- Right-click the printer icon, and then click Printer Properties.
- Select the Device Settings tab. Click the accessory that you want to turn on, click Installed from the drop-down menu, and then click OK.
The User Guide has more information on how to print Duplex on page 33.

Hi again,
I would not change to the Basic driver.
What program are you trying to print from? When you Print, did you select the option to print two-sided?
