Num1SWGuy,

Were you using two printer trays? Were envelopes in Tray 1 or 2?

I suddenly had the same problem with envelope printing (#10s particularly) after about 5 months of use.  I searched all over and could not find a solution as my printer kept telling me that #10 envelopes were not loaded in the tray.

After reviewing my print settings multiple times, I seem to have found the culprit (in my case).  Here is how I fixed it.

1. Open the printer properties (go to control panel, printers, right click.

2. Click on the Advanced tab.

3. Uncech the box next to Hold mismatched documents.

This worked for me and hopefully it will for you.

Fitz2424,

Were you using 2 print trays? If so, where were the envelopes?

My printer is an 8600 Plus which only has one tray.

I had two sided printing set as a default property.  I turned it off and was able to make my #10 envelopes print.

I went to printer properties and changed tray 1 to envelopes.  I then took the paper out of tray one, saw the sticker on the bottom of the tray- for envelopes (shows how to line up)- should have looked there first I guess.  Envelope printed fine.  I just wish my top feed would work for envelopes.  It's a hassle taking the paper out, but it would work great for printing many envelopes at once!

If you are having issues printing on envelopes, which I see as the common theme here, what you can do is try an alternate driver for the print job. Here is a great instructional thread written by one of my colleagues about how you can accomplish this easily :

Let me know if you can print those envelopes through this driver.

I hope you are having a wonderful week, and I hope that the weather where you are located is as beautiful there as it is here!

Problem solved. Thanks for everyone's comments.

Which post was it that helped resolve your issue? That information would be great for other customers to know!

Have an awesome day!

I spoke too soon.

Using the 8600 driver, Word will print envelopes from Tray 1 only.  If I try setting the envelope printer dialog to Tray 2, Word prints from Tray 1 on whatever is in that tray.

If I swap the trays (envelopes on top, letter paper on the bottom), I can print the envelopes (leaving Feed From set to Automatically Select). But the letter paper will not print from the bottom tray unless I set Printer Properties, Paper/Quality, Paper Source to Tray 2. I must reset the Paper Source to Tray 2 every time I restart Word. Similarly, in Adobe Acrobat, I must set Paper Source each time I start Acrobat.
