Windows 7
HP Photosmart 7510
No matter what I try, the software will only load the basic software only.
The full software will not load. Tried the software off of the CD and Downloaded the PS7510-417.exe software.
Shut off the firewall, turned off all TSR programs.
I have unloaded and reloaded the software times.
Still will load only the basic. No scan software, etc.
What is the problem?

Hi,
Please clarify the exact OS edition:
Click the Start button.
Right click Computer and then click Properties.
What is the full OS version listed under Windows Edition?
Additionaly, is the System Type listed as 32 or 64 bit OS?
Regards,
Shlomi

Shlomi:
Not sure if you are still around the forum.
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
Have reloaded the software numerous times to no avail.
Ran the scan diagnostics and get Windows (WIA) Scan failure and
HP Twain Failure.
Nothing works.
Not sure if the software is not loading completely, or there is a problem with the software and Windows 7.
I see on the forums that this problem is not unique. Several persons have this problem, but no solutions are posted other than throwing the thing away.
This printer works great for printing, but is not very useful unless the scan to computer will function.
There has to be a solution to this problem.
Your help, or anyones help, would be much appreciated.

I ran this program. It found the printer and reported:
The full Hp software is already installed for the selected printer but the basic functionality drivers appear to be missing or configured incorrectly.
Continuing thru the program, I remove the printer from the Devices and Printers list, ran the printer setup under programs, HP, HP Photosmart 7510.
Everything seemed to go fine as before, but the printer did not show back up in the Devices and Printers list.
And now I cannot Scan or Print.
Where should the files for this reside--Under C: Program Files or Program Files (x86)? All of the program files appear to be under C:\Program files but a few of the same files are under x86.

I went thru all of the steps in the latest post. Did not work. Same problems as before.
I completely removed all of the HP programs AGAIN.
I ran HPPIW.exe again and let that program download the programs and drivers from the HP website and install.
It still will not connect for scanning either from USB or network. It will print from this computer via the network, but not scan.
The computer name shows on the printer as a viable computer for scanning. However, when I choose the computer, the printer shows Now Scanning, waits a bit then reports 'No computer is connected'.
When I click on 'Scan Document or Photo' in the software, nothing starts or opens.
I then ran HPSDU.exe. Connectivity and device manager pass, but Windows (WIA) scan and HP Twain fail.
This programs then tells me to unload and reload the HP Software, which I have done at least 25 times.
Can this really be that complicated? Cannot HP engineers figure out the connection between a brand new computer and Windows 7 Home Premium? Was it a mistake to purchase HP? I sure hope not!!
This works really well on my wife's computer running XP. Can windows 7 be that much tougher?

Hi precaster,
Follow the steps below to check the WIA Service:
1. Type services.msc in run or search program and files
2. Scroll down to the WIA Windows Image Acquisition
3. Make sure that this service is running. Click Stop, and then Restart to make sure
4. Restart the computer
Restart the Dependencies services:
1. Click on Start, in Search box type “services” without quotes.
2. Scroll down until you see Windows Image Acquisition (WIA).
3. Double click on it and go to the tab called Dependencies.
4. 2 services should be listed.
5. Exit that window and look for Remote Procedure Call (RPC).
6. Make sure it’s on manual or if it is on Auto, just leave it. Make sure the service is started though.
7. Go to Shell Hardware Detection and Double click.
8. Set the Start up Type as Manual and hit Apply.
9. You should be able to Start the service by hitting Start.
10. Now you are done and the Twain Manager should be working and not give you an error.
Check dependencies or sub dependencies:
Right click on WIA (Windows Imaging Acquisition) selecting first properties and then the dependencies tab. It should list: Remote Procedure Call RPC and Shell Harward Detection
Under RPC it will then list DCOM Service Process Launcher and RPC Endpoint Mapper Go back to the main services.msc list and then right click and start all the items listed as dependencies or sub dependencies under WIA
