Ok.. Well here's my problem. My printer was working perfectly until last night. I have it connected to a D-Link router in my dorm room. The problem is the printer is always offline now. So I tried re-plugging the cord in and it starts "Warming Up" but I can't do anything and within 30 seconds the printer goes offline again. I resetted my router a week ago so could that be a problem? I really need help in fixing my printer!!

From the control panel of the printer: Setup > Network > Reset Network Defaults.
Next: Setup > Network > Wireless Setup WIzard
Finally, set a static (non-changing) IP address for the printer:
- Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
- Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
- Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
- On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). Yours is 192.168.0.100 to .199 Let's use 192.168.0.220 for your printer (check the first three sets of numbers - your router may use slightly different first three sets, like 192.168.1.x).
- Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
- Leave the gateway and DNS blank. Click 'Apply'
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

Unplug power, wait 30 seconds and plug it back in.
Hold the # and 6 keys while turning it back on. This will also reset the network defaults.

Thank you, HP PrintDoc. The solution worked like a charm. Changing the IP address scared me silly, but I figured I had nothing to lose since I could no longer print anyway. I changed the IP address and followed the rest of the instructions, and now I can print wirelessly again. Kudos!

Well, the first thing I always try to determine when a computer tells me that a printer is offline is whether it really is or the computer just can't see it.
Print a Wireless Network Test from the front of the printer. Is it connected?
What router? What operating system?

Hi,
Yes, it shows as connected. I'm running a Dlink router with Windows Vista.

OK, let's pick on the router. Make sure it has the latest firmware, then cycle power on the router.
If that does not work, download and run this utility: http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Nav?h_pagetype=s-92
What does it say?

Hi, it says:
Software is Missing!
HP software required to connect your printer over the network could not be found on this computer.
Insert the CD that came with the printer and select install or Add Device, or visit hp.com to download the latest software.
Now of course I'm trying to find the disk and can't find it. Does this make sense? I've downloaded the driver on this computer in the past but it seems like it is saying it is not installed.
Thanks.
