Example: Envy Photo 6230

My previous printer (6200) was faulty and was been replaced after a few weeks with a HP Envy 6230. I assumed this was a new printer but I don't think it is. I'm being told it is no longer serviced by HP. I also think it has been delivered with a serious paper jam in situ. Any suggestions as to how I approach this problem gratefully received.

A few more details would be useful, was this replaced under warranty by HP or did you purchase another printer. In terms of replacements, often a refurbished unit is provided and is documented in warranty terms. Things can get damaged in shipping and if unit was packed in styrofoam it is possible that some stray bits of foam got into the mechanism.
