It's as if the printer doesn't recognize that there is ink in the black cartridge. I have followed all online steps and now the same issue with another family members printer. All stems from these XL cartridges. NEED HELP --no longer under warranty. Have to say these are the last hp printers we will ever own.

Your new black HP ink cartridge has its own warranty. The cartridge will be replaced at no cost to you if it's defective.
