Thank you, thank you, thank you. I cleaned the small strip of glass and it worked. I had been cleaning the large piece of glass and it didn't work. Thanks for your help!

This is the third hp printer that has this same issue.  When using the automatic copy feed a black verical line is printed on each copy, or scan.  This is a fine line approxiamately 2 inches from edge.  I have had this problem before and bought new printer, only to find that after several months the new Hp printer shows the same line.  Surely Hp is aware of this.  I have cleaned the glass and roller, without success.  Maybe I should try something other than Hp.  Frustrated.

I cleaned the small section of the glass, on the side, and the vertical line is gone! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I just unplugged my printer and waited 15 seconds before applying power.  Now the vertical streaks are gone.  For how long I havent a clue.

I had that issue. Mine was under warranty so I kept calling HP customer support. They sent out 2 replacements and both had the same issue. They then upgraded me to the 8620 and I never had the issue again.

I have the same problem. Its not dirty glass. I unplugged the unit and the issue went away for 1 scan. The next scan it was back. Very frustrating

I had the same problem. The printer was only putting lines on the paper when scanning was involved. It took three cleanings with a screen cleaner and a microfiber cloth but it finally worked.

You saved me a LOT of headaches!

Thanks!

Yay!!  The black streak being created from the ADF area on scans and copy is not fixed.  I had to look really really close and there was a small smudge on the left glass as others had mentioned.  Got my windex, whipped it clean and it's back to perfect working condition.  I am so relieved!!

Thanks
