Deskjet Ink Advantage 2135
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hi. My lappy is an Asus lappy using Windows 8.1 64-bit.

I had to reinstall the OS a few weeks ago and only got around to install my printer but now Im facing a problem(never had this problem before!).

I'm trying to connect to my printer but the USB connectioin fails. I'm instaling using the CD provided, the printer driver is installed but when i connect using USB the window says that USB connection failed. I have 3 USB ports and i've tried on all 3 ports. I've installed and uninstalled the printer driver 3 times now. I'm even using the HP Printer Intall Wizard and it detects the device but no device listed. In the Device Manager, under "Other Devices", Deskjet 2130 series has the yellow triangle exclamation mark thing. I seriously need help right now.

maybe its the printer usb cable connecter port(the squarish part)? coz i tried using a friends cable(same model) also cable connection failure but she just used her own printer with the cable and it works fine. so i dont know. i really need the printer to work soon. I just need to know if its really a driver issue or its the printer itself coz if its the latter then i can send it to the shop.

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

The Riddle_Decipher is at your service.

As I Understand you have issues with the HP printer installation on your Asus computer,

Apart from the huge history record of what I assume is the device manager log you've posted, which seems quite helpful,
have you updated the drivers from the Official HP Website? if not click here for details.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help you out,
The best thing to do is a root level removal of the existing driver and installing a fresh driver to resolve the issue,
I recommend you follow the steps listed below:

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

Keep me posted,

If the information I've provided was helpful,

Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

That'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.

@Riddle_Decipher

Yes, I did download the drivers from the HP website. I've tried that.

I followed the steps you listed. At no. 9 I wasn't sure to just Remove or Remove  with Package(or something it was called) and I chose the latter, then a message showed that Printer deleted but hp(somethingsomething).inf was deleted unsuccessfully. Access denied.

So I tried installing the printer again. Drivers all installed, USB cable connection still unsuccessful.

You've done a remarkable job performing the steps suggested earlier, great work 🙂

And don't worry, as we should be able to fix this up with a few more steps and I'll be with you until we ensure this issue is fixed.

Please try with alternate USB port on your computer and if available with an alternate computer to check printer functionality.

And about the description of your steps - It's good, however, it could have been better if you would have left "somethingsomething" out of it and told me precisely what you saw 😛

No pressure, though, besides it looks like you could retry that step and this time select the other option to delete or remove the complete package using an administrator account (if you don't have in use already).

If none of the above works, the next best thing is using the drivers of the HP Deskjet 990c as an alternate to other incompatible issues: Click here and download/Install.

The last step is to utilize the windows built-in drivers: Click here for more information.

Keep me posted,

If the information I've provided was helpful,

Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

That'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. Good news, I actually tried it with a differnt laptop and it worked! Bad news, is that its my laptop thats being flaky. I havent uninstalled and done the previous steps though, which i will do now. Will those steps help fix the problem?

Thanks for the reply.

Please perform the above mentioned steps on the initial laptop and let me know the outcome.

Cheers.
