Premium 309g - How do I scan to Word

The options on HP solution centre gives you options to scan to pdf or tif or e-mail not to Microsoft Word or Excell etc as I was able to do with my earlier scanner. Iam using Vista and Word 2007.

Any ideas?

Re: Premium 309g - How do I scan to Word

I have the Photosmart Premium 309A and cannot get it to scan a doc into Word.  Do you have a solution?  The HP 'Help' service is infuriatingly USELESS.  Would you believe they advised me to scan into PDF and then paste into a Word document?

Re: Premium 309g - How do I scan to Word

Nitrof,

Can you tell me what version of HP software you have installed?

(when you open Solution Center it shows the version, typically looks something like "120.0.26.58".  Does the version you have installed start with 120, 130, or 140?

Re: Premium 309g - How do I scan to Word

Hello,

It seems that Scan to Word is not provided in the default scan shortcuts that come with the printer.

You can create your own scan shortcut that scan to Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel

Here are the way to create scan shortcut

1. Open HP Solution Center

2. Click Scan Picture or Scan Document

3. Click any scan shortcut in the left hand side

4. Modify the Scan to drop down box. Choose Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel

5. Click Advanced Picture Settings or Advanced Document Settings to change the resolution if you want to

6. After modifying a shorcut there will be an asterisk mark in the left of the shortcut

7. Click Save Shortcut and name it accordingly

8. You can use this shortcut the next time you want to scan to Microsoft word or excel

I work for hp but my statement above is my own, not of hp

How can I scan to WORD from a 6200? Word was listed, but now it is not. I tried reloading the software but it didn't help.

Re: Premium 309g - How do I scan to Word

I am using version 140 with Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010. I've tried removing the software and reinstalling.  I've also installed MODI in hopes that the MS interface would be recognized (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982760). Still nothing.

Re: Premium 309g - How do I scan to Word

Not all printer software has the same options as another similar printer software so the option may not be there for your printer.  If you don't see the option, there is a work around.

  1. Scan to pdf and save the file.
  2. Open the scan.
  3. Press Ctrl+A on the keyboard to select the entire document.
  4. Press Ctrl+C to copy the document.
  5. Open a new Word document.
  6. Press Ctrl+V to paste the contents of the scan into the word document.

That is a long way of getting it into a word document, but if you don't have the option in the settings, then that's the only way.
