cf286a

I need to setup a scan to email facility in a very remote area to be operated by unschooled persons. Hand writtten forms have to be transmitted. A fax machine is not working due to cellular limitations but I have WiFi and internet broadband.  A computer cannot be used but we need to email directly from the scan. I was thinking of a LaserJet cf286a but can purchase any other model available in Southern Africa. The operation have to be as simple as posible. Is it posible and what model is recommended?

Hello, The Laserjet you have doesn't support stand-alone scan to email. HP does, however, have a number of inkjet printers that do support scan to email via the pritner - setup pritner on wireless network with Internet access, enable web services, and createa a scan to email account with an email address. You don't need a PC to setup the printer and you don't need a PC to email scans. Here are the models that support it. (I'm in the US and don't know what's avaiable in your area)

Is this still up-to-date for stand-alone Scan-to-Email functions? I was just speaking with sales through Chat and they said the 8600 does not have stand-alone Scan-to-Email. Tried to sell me the X585dn (B5L04A). Kinda like going for the Titanic when I'm looking for a speed boat.
