How to keep monitor from returning to log-in screen?

HP Touchsmart 610 with Windows 7:  When watching a movie, how can I  prevent the monitor from returning to the log-in screen every few minutes?

Hello michin:

           Welcome to HP forum. Wow this is not supposed to happen. Lets start with sleep mode setting to begin with. Left click your mouse any where on your screen. Goto personalize click it. Click on screen saver icon. Change the wait time 20+ minutes. Then right below that click on Change power settings. Next window under Select a power plan select high performance. On the left side click on Choose when to turn off display. Next window set the settings like this:

          Dim the display                    10 minutes     Click on upside triangle to this.

         Turn off the display               15 minutes

         Put computer to sleep            Never

        Adjustment plain brightest      Move slider to far right Maximum. You can still use the dimmer keys afterwards.

       Click save changes. Now close out all opened windows. Finished.


       Now we have to figure out why your computer media is allowing for shutting down. Lets try running a pc tune up and than we will run disk defragmenter and disck clean up and see if this resolves the media issue. Open up HP Support Assistant. Click on maintain. Click on Tune up. Next window click on  view settings. Next window click on Click here to display (Bar).....

Put a ckeck mark in all display boxes check mark apply then click on OK. Next window click on Tune up now.

        After this is completed close it out. Now goto accessories then click on system tools Cick on disk defragmenter click  on Analyzed disk then when it finished click or Defragment disk. When finished close it.

        Now go back and open up  disk clean up. Click on Ok and follow directions given. Hopefully this will fix the issue. If not then you need to tell up what program you were using so we can help reinstall it again.
