I have a new HP 15-db1000 laptop with AMD Ryzen5 3500U processor running Windows 10 Home. I try to connect externally an old HDD using 3 different SATA to USB cables and in 2 out of 3 cases Windows don't see the drive and the windows explorer, disk manager etc freeze until i unplug the disk. The same HDD with the same cables works just fine when i use my older laptop (HP-G62 iCore3 Windows 10) and yet another 12 years old HP laptop. Same problem with my daughter's similar laptop (HP 15-db1020). Any idea?
