Samsung M262x 282x Series printer
Other

Hi,

I have a Samsung M262X series printer which I monitor using SNMP. The SNMP replies to queries works fine, but I also see this printer sending packets to 172.16.0.99 which my Fortigate directs to the internet. I thought maybe I'd been hacked so I downloaded a new copy of the last firmware for this device. Still the same issue.

I've turned off SNMP entirely and the problem ceases so it's definately coming from the SNMPd in the machine.

Is this a security issue or bug, or just some quirk of the SNMPd?

I'm using SNMP v2 and the problem exists with queries and/or traps.

I can post FW logs and Wireshark traces but redacted, obviously 🙂

Thanks
