Product: DesignJet Z5200

Hi all,

 

Our Z5200 plotter started throwing this error immediately after the hourglass during the startup sequence. The unit worked about 6 months ago and hasn't been used since. I do realize ink and printheads may be expired in it. The unit has been very very lightly used since purchase, so this sort of error is disappointing since it appears to be a product of age. 

 

I have the Service Manual, and am prepared to tackle this myself, but I am wondering if anyone has any pointers. I found a few other threads about this error, but some were for other plotters. Do the same error codes have different meanings for different models? 

 

Based on the SM, it appears to be Carriage PCA related... but on another page it says 02.1:YZ means "Encoder seems to be wrong."

 

Is it possible the error is a result of a bad power supply? Are there procedures to test the power supply rails? (FWIW, we are an AV electronics company and are skilled in component level repairs given enough tech info and schematics.)

 

In Diagnostics Menu, I tried Carriage Assembly and it got to AdcManagerHorus and then threw the error.

 

Thoughts?
