1. Title: Solution to the problem that HP Smart Print version 1.0.6.0 and 1.0.7.0 cannot successfully update in Windows Vista and Windows 7.
2. Description: At present, HP Smart Print version 1.0.6.0 and 1.0.7.0 updates may fail in Windows Vista and Windows 7, details as follow:
1). When the user is using HP Smart Print, an update alert will pop up, prompting to update.
2). Click “Update” to update.
3). If the operating system is Windows Vista or Windows 7, and the User Account Control is off or at the lowest level, a security warning may pop up after clicking “Update”, asking whether you want to run the file. Click “Run”.
4). In this situation, HP Smart Print update may fail.
3. Solution:
Windows Vista Users
1) click Control Panel in the Start Menu, then click User Accounts.
2). Then click User Accounts
3). In the User Accounts page, click “Turn User Account Control on or off” option.
4). In the setting page, please check the “Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer” checkbox to activate UAC. Click “OK” button to save the setting and restart the computer.
5). Then HP Smart Print can be successfully updated next time the update prompt appears.
Windows 7 Users
1). Click Control Panel in the Start Menu. Then click “User Accounts and Family Safety”
2). Then click “User Accounts” option.
3). In the User Accounts page, click “Change User Account Control settings” option.
4). In the User Account Control Settings page, if your UAC is at the lowest level “Never notify”, please change it to any of other three higher levels and click OK button. Then restart the computer.
5). Then HP Smart Print can be successfully updated next time the update prompt appears.

No matter what I do, my HP 1050 Printer will not print web pages on IE9
I have installed bing toolbar(no idea if I had it) and HP Smart Print(don't think I had HP Web printing either at least I never used it before).
I have vista on a Dell Inspiron desktop and either I have to uninstal IE9 and put back IE7 or get something besides a HP PRINTER. IE7 does not work well nowdays so I will just get another Printer and TOSS this HP.
Pretty said HP printers will not work with IE9......I read the reason is HP does not update for new IE until they have to. Well they lost my business....This Printer is not that old and its worthless to me. The main reason I have a printer is I sell online and I print my shipping labels online. Worked before I got IE9, not it doesn't.

HP Smart Print is the ability to take a screen shot of a small caption of something and print just that. It is just software and ultimately has nothing to do with actually printing from the web. It puts a tiny icon on your tool bar that literally takes a snapshot of selected text but this can be achieved in many ways without this out-dated software (referring to Smart Print). I'll be happy to help you get IE9 printing to your computer again. What happens when you press the little printer icon? Can you print anything else?
Just to reiterate a little on web browsers and how HP updates their software...nowadays the internet is almost saturated with different web browsers but everything I do in this business practically requires Internet Explorer so it is the favored web browser from my understanding (especially IE9) and so is Google Chrome as well.
Allow me to help you. Is this the DeskJet 1050 that you have? Is it that you must have Smart Print to print (because that is just a feature not a requirement and actually works best with IE9 than any other version of IE or web browser)? If you need any assistance, let me know. I will need to know a few more things about your setup but answer these questions for me at this time and I will go forward from there.
