Hi
I own a HP Compaq 6715b Notebook. The problem is that I want to turn my pc into a wifi hotspot but every time I plug in the internet cable - the wifi disconnets. I cannot enable it with the touch button and it's not showing up in control panel while the cable is plugged in.
I've heard that this is some kind of function built in HP laptops, but I am not sure. How can I turn on WiFi when using cable internet? Im running Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit).
Please reply soon!

Hi:
Yes it is a default setting in the BIOS.
You need to go into the BIOS, advanced menu, device configuration sub menu and disable the LAN-WLAN switching setting.
Save the setting where you made the change by hitting the F10 key and again when you exit (save settings and exit).
The default is on to conserve battery power (no need to have the wlan card using power when you are connected by wire.
Of course most of the time you are connected to an ethernet cable, you are also connected to an a/c adapter.
