I have an HP2000-350US with Atheros AR9485 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter
There is an issue with this laptop not being able to retain the connection with the wireless AP seamlessly. It will work ok for hours and then when i switch rooms or even move it from 1 table to the other, it disconnects and connects again. This is extremely annoying as it loses connection to internet and kills all the downloads as well.
Following are some technical details
.Windows 7 Home Premium (x64) Service Pack 1 (build 7601)
.Using AVG Free Antivirus
.Installed the latest Bios from HP site
.Upgraded to the latest driver for the wifi network card
.Wireless router is Linksys E2500 running in WPA2/WPA Mixed Mode
I actually got this laptop replaced at Office Depot, thinking I got a lemon and ending up getting the same model as a replacement. Now that the replacement also is showing the same symptoms, i am wondering if this is something inherent to this HP2000-350US model (with Atheros AR9485 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter)

I'm having the same issue with this laptop. I recently reinstalled a fresh copy of OEM Windows (not using the HP recovery) to see if that helped. It did for a few hours until I wanted to change the power profile. It caused my wifi adaptor to be unresponsive and my mouse to act funny for a little while. I'm going to try the Atheros drivers from their website to see if that helps.

I am having the same issue. It seems to only happen when connected to N access points.

Having the same problems....and I have 2 of these lap tops - both doing the same thing. I also have a 3rd (different brand) - no problems with connecting via wifi.
What is the solution?

I bought two of these for christmas. Both having identical issues as everyone else. Spent 2.5 with tech support. Downloaded Atheros Driver and Bios. They had me reseat the wireless card, take out the battery, all for not.
Nothing changed. Now they want me to reload the PC. I said NO. I'm not spending several more hrs, besides this is happening right out of the box, So what is going to change when I reload the same S/W they put on. If I can't get them to look at the units themselves, I'm bringing them back and buying Dells!

I've upgraded the Other's driver to 9.2.0.439 which is the latest I could find but I am still having an issue. In the mean time I have a USB dongle because the internal wireless is garbage. I'm about ready to rip it out and buy whatever other chip will fit the form factor. This honestly doesn't surprise me coming from HP. Against my better intuition I bought an HP again. Burnt two times.

I'm have the same / similar problems. I can connect to the network (Linksys wireless N router), but the connection is very slow and then drops off. Several other computers have no problems on the wireless network. Also tried on other networks(starbuck's) and connection was slow there too. I spent over 3 hours on the phone with tech support to no avail. Took it back and got a new one and it has the same problem
I'm convinced there is a design flaw with this machine.

I am having the same problem. I have a new HP 2000 Notebook purchased November 2011. The wifi connection keeps dropping on this PC. Surfing the internet is very frustrating using this PC. I have two other PCs (different manufacturers) and they work great. Any solution?

Update to my previous post. HP assigned me a service counselor. Agreed to let me send my 2 pc's back to their facility for testing. I'll update when I hear more.
