Microsoft Windows 11

The issue is that when my computer goes to sleep it won't wake up with a mouse movement, keyboard click, or power button press. I need to unplug it and then plug it back in.

In another post, someone said to do the following:

The steps I took:

1. Open Windows Settings -> Updates and Security

2. Press the advanced alternatives options

3. Turn on "get updates for other Microsoft products when I update windows"

4. Go back one step and search for updates

5. There will show up optional updates there

6. Expand the updates and there should be something called "HP Firmware", install it and everything else that might have shown up.

7. Computer will restart and go into a BIOS update screen, let it finish the install

8. After starting back up, log in and test your fixed computer

Here's the US version:

The steps I took:

1. Open Windows Settings -> Windows Update

2. Expand the advanced options

3. Turn on "Receive updates for other Microsoft products"

4. Go back one step and search for updates

5. There will show up under Additional Options/ Optional updates.

6. Expand the updates and there should be something called "HP Firmware", Check Mark and install it.

7. The computer will restart and go into a BIOS update screen, let it finish the installation. Took about 7 or 8 minutes.

8. After starting back up, log in and test your fixed computer

I tried this but have not verified whether it has solved the problem. I will replay after a week or two and let everyone know if this fixed the problem. Thanks to the original person from Turkey who posted this possible fix.

Hi @MUArteest,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

I see that you are facing an issue with your PC that is stuck in sleep mode.

-Perform a power drain on your PC.

1) Unplug the power cord from the PC & wall.

2) Disconnect the power cable from the AC adapter if it is a detachable part and keep it aside.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the AC adapter, then connect it to the wall and to the charging port on your PC.

5) Power on the PC and wait for it to boot into Windows.

-Update the BIOS for your PC by clicking on the link.

Make sure you keep only the charger plugged in while updating the BIOS for your PC.

Click on the + sign next to BIOS and then download the file.

Open the file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.

-Install all the pending updates for the Windows operating system following the below steps.

Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and select Check for updates. If the upgrade is available for your device and you want to proceed, download and install it.

- Refer to the steps on this link to further troubleshoot.

- If the issue still persists, refer to the steps on this link to perform a recovery and let me know if that resolves the issue. (Take a backup of the data before performing a recovery)

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a great day ahead!
