I purchased an OfficeJet (Pro I think) 8022e, I confirmed the printer worked & then was erased before purchase. Since purchasing I have discovered that the previous owner’s account still has the printer linked to their account and enrolled in InstaInk so therefore it won’t let me enroll using said printer. What do I have to do to remove their account & complete the steps to enable myself to link printer to my account& enroll?

PLEASE HELP!
Thanks so much

Hi @stinkiemcfisty,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To remove the previous owner's account and link the HP OfficeJet Pro 8022e printer to your account, you can follow these steps.

  1. Factory Reset the Printer:

    • Ensure the printer is turned on.
    • On the printer control panel, navigate to "Settings" or "Setup."
    • Look for an option like "Restore Defaults," "Reset," or "Factory Reset."
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to perform a factory reset.
  2. Remove the Printer from the Previous Owner's HP Smart Account:

    • Visit the HP Smart website: https://www.hpconnected.com/
    • Log in with the previous owner's account credentials.
    • Find the printer in the list of connected devices.
    • Remove the printer from the account. This may involve clicking on the printer and selecting an option like "Remove" or "Forget."
  3. Set Up the Printer on Your Account:

    • After the factory reset, the printer will prompt you to go through the setup process.
    • Connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network during the setup.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions on the printer to complete the setup.
  4. Enroll in HP Instant Ink:

    • Once the printer is set up, you can visit the HP Smart website or use the HP Smart app to enroll in HP Instant Ink.
    • Log in with your HP account credentials.
    • Follow the steps to enroll the printer in HP Instant Ink.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
