Randomly started getting E6 error code and flashing lights. After searching online for solutions i have found the suggested fixes posted and none of them worked. Removed cartridges, disconnected power cable for 30mins to hard reset, checked for debris, and checked for any paper jams. All for the E6 code to repopulate and continue. Has this issue been ruled a software issue?

Hi @ybrb90,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The E6 error code on an HP Envy 6455e printer typically indicates a hardware issue rather than a software problem. This code often relates to problems with the printhead or carriage, such as being stuck or blocked.
Since you've already tried common troubleshooting steps like removing cartridges, hard resetting, checking for debris, and looking for paper jams, and the issue persists, it suggests a more serious problem with the printer's hardware. Here are a few additional steps and considerations.
Check the Printhead Carriage Movement:
- Open the printer and carefully observe the printhead carriage. Ensure it can move freely from one side to the other. If it’s stuck or obstructed, gently try to move it manually.
Clean the Cartridges and Printhead:
- Sometimes dried ink or debris can cause issues. Clean the printhead and cartridge contacts using a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water.
Inspect the Printer for Any Visible Damage:
- Look for any visible signs of damage to the printer’s internal components, especially around the printhead area.
Firmware Update:
- Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve issues that appear to be hardware-related.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I encountered the same issue. A factory reset didn’t solve it, but using 'HP Secure Erase' did. After that, I just reconnected the printer to my network, and everything worked fine. Might also have to set it up back on each device.

Confirming what Akami 91 said. I tried all the recommendations. Nothing worked. I finally found this thread and Akami91's reply. The only thing that worked was the HP Secure Erase on Embedded Web Server so definitely not a hardware issue.
