I have a HP Officejet Pro 8600 Printer.  It keeps giving error messages.  It say I have a damaged ink cart.  I replaced all the ink carts,  I cleaned ink cart, I cleaned the print heads and I still get a damaged Black Ink Cart. What can I do?

Hi @MJB1218 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you've replaced the ink cartridges and cleaned the printheads, the "damaged ink cartridge" error on your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus printer persists, indicating a deeper issue. Here are some additional steps you can try:

Check for Damaged Printhead Contacts:

  • Remove all ink cartridges.
  • Using a flashlight, inspect the printhead contacts inside the cartridge slots. Look for bent, damaged, or missing pins.
  • If you find a bent pin, gently pry it back into place with a small screwdriver. If any pins are broken, the printhead will likely need replacement.

Clean the Printhead Again:

  • Follow HP's official instructions for cleaning the printhead on your specific model. This may involve using automated cleaning cycles within the printer settings or manually cleaning with a damp cloth and warm water.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Visit HP's support website for your printer model and check for available firmware updates. Installing the latest firmware can sometimes resolve software glitches causing the error. Update the firmware on an HP printer

I hope this helps.
