HP Smart Tank 7005
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi

I have a HP Smart Tank 7005

After a period of inactivity (about 6 weeks), when I turned the printer on again, it showed a fault, with both the printheads icon flashing.

I followed the instructions provided here to no avail:

https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/ish_4513548-4025581-16

I replaced both printheads with new ones and the fault still persists.

Can I get some help please?

Thanks

Hi @vocalis,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've already taken some troubleshooting steps, so let's try a few more to see if we can resolve the issue with your HP Smart Tank 7005 printer. Here are some additional steps you can try.

  • Check for Firmware Updates: Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes firmware updates can resolve compatibility issues and bugs that may cause the printhead error.
  • Reset the Printer: Try resetting the printer to its factory settings. This can often resolve various issues. Refer to your printer's user manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
  • Clean the Printhead Contacts: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Open the printhead access door and remove the printheads. Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water to gently clean the electrical contacts on both the printheads and the printer carriage. Make sure they are completely dry before reinstalling the printheads.
  • Inspect for Obstructions: Check the printhead carriage area for any obstructions or debris that may be interfering with the movement of the printheads. Remove any visible debris carefully.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
