Hi @Brendonddrj ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're having trouble with your HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 3636 printer, particularly with the black ink cartridge.

Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

  • Check the Ink Cartridge: Ensure that the black ink cartridge is properly installed and seated correctly in the printer. Sometimes cartridges can become loose during printing or handling.
  • Clean the Cartridge Contacts: Turn off the printer and carefully remove the black ink cartridge. Wipe the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge with a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water. Make sure they're clean and dry before reinserting the cartridge.
  • Printer Alignment: Perform a printer alignment. This can often resolve issues with print quality and ink recognition. You can usually find this option in the printer's settings menu.
  • Update Printer Firmware/Drivers: Ensure that your printer's firmware and drivers are up to date. Sometimes, updates include bug fixes that can address issues with ink recognition. Update the firmware on an HP printer
  • Reset the Printer: Sometimes, a simple reset can solve various printer problems. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Try Another Ink Cartridge: If possible, try using a different black ink cartridge to see if the issue persists. This will help determine if the problem is with the cartridge itself or with the printer.

Ok, I restart the printer, reset, tried to start days ago, but nothing. Cleaned too, With smooth paper, and cloth, just make the ink line after pass it. I cannot make alignment because the printer does not do anything with this ink inside, it shows something like incompatible, strange because a week agos it was working. Drive isnt the problem too. So the only thing left for me to do is buy another one, to test?
