Hi @AZlady31,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It can be frustrating when replacing a cartridge doesn't solve the problem and even leads to further issues. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem with your HP Officejet Pro 8028.

  • Check Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the new cartridge is properly installed. Sometimes, cartridges may not be inserted correctly, leading to printing errors. Make sure you hear a click when inserting the cartridge, indicating it's properly seated.
  • Remove Protective Tape: Many ink cartridges come with protective tape that needs to be removed before installation. Check to see if there is any tape covering the cartridge contacts or ink nozzles, and remove it if necessary.
  • Clean Contacts: Sometimes, ink residue or debris can accumulate on the cartridge contacts or printer's contacts, preventing proper communication between the cartridge and the printer. Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water to gently clean the contacts on both the cartridge and the printer.
  • Restart Printer: Turn off your printer, wait for a few minutes, and then turn it back on. This can sometimes reset the printer and resolve any temporary issues.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Sometimes, firmware updates include fixes for printing issues. You can check for updates through the printer's menu or by visiting the HP support website.
  • Run Print Quality Diagnostic: Most HP printers have a built-in diagnostic tool for checking print quality. You can usually access this tool through the printer's menu or by printing a diagnostic page. This can help identify any specific issues with the print quality and provide guidance on how to fix them.
  • Reinstall Printer Drivers: If none of the above steps work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer drivers on your computer. Sometimes, corrupted drivers can cause printing problems.

By going through these steps, you should hopefully be able to identify and resolve the issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028 printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
