Hello everyone,

 

When I checked GPU-Z today, it says that the board power limit for my graphics card was 37 watts (I have an AMD Radeon HD 8570 (OEM)) but I'm not sure as to whether this is the maximum power provided by my motherboard's PCI-E slot and if the motherboard will not allow a power supply with an 8-pin connector to work with the graphics card. 

 

PC INFORMATION:

HP 2AF7 motherboard (Memphis-S)

Intel I5-4440

Radeon HD8570(OEM)

Seagate Barracuda 1 TB  HDD

Lets straighten out some issues:

1) The actual rating on the AMD 8570 is 50W, per specs.

2) Memphis -S motherboard has a PCIEx16 Gen. 3 slot, rated at 75W.

3) Example only, do not purchase, as yet: 

PSU units in the 430+ Wattage range would have a 6+2 PCIe power plug, 500W range would have (2) 6+2.

 

Adding a 650W PSU has no bearing on the motherboard. Just keep it to the dimensions shown.

This is the maximum power from the PCIe slot as the Radeon HD 8570 doesn't even have an 8 pin or even 6 pin connector on it.
