where can I check whether a given product (EliteDesk 800G6) supports a given version of windows (Server 2012R2 or 2016)?

Hi, @AndreaS42

Windows Server 2012 R2 would not be supported because that is equivalent to Windows 8.1, for which little or no drivers exist for the 800 G6.

Windows Server 2016 might work because that can use some of the Windows 10 drivers, or you can find Windows Server 2016 drivers for some of the hardware your PC comes with directly from the Intel site.

For example:  Your PC comes with an Intel® I219-LM 1 Gigabit ethernet adapter, and you could use the Windows Server 2016 driver from Intel on that.

Intel® Network Adapter Driver for Windows Server 2016*

It would take a considerable amount of effort to get all devices to work properly on Windows Server 2016.

Officially, HP only supports the PC for W10 and W11.

See the quickspecs below, page 12 for the list of supported operating systems.

hi

check the exact computer model
and already see if the drivers are available
if not, it's definitely not 100% compatible
sometimes the product page may mention different windows versions, if there is nothing luckily

just for example

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-elitedesk-800-g6-small-form-factor-pc/35390270

OS  here 10 / 11 only

Preinstalled 10 and freedos only

but maybe @Paul_Tikkanen  will answer more effectively

Thanks to both of you for your answers. I guess I'll try to push for Win Server 2019 to avoid driver issues.

Thanks again 🙂

You're very welcome.

Yes, Windows Server 2019 has a better/easier chance of working than 2016.
