I'm not able to run custom kernel anymore. Power-off/reboot are ending in a dead screen: Monitor is off/Power supply is on (many ACPI errors in splash screen). The highest Kernel reachable is 4.8.11 (UEFI or BIOS mode). I have this problem for Kernel 4.9.0-x or higher. AMD 7th generation.

Latest Kernel Stable is now 4.9 and this bug was fixed last night by the Kernel team.

According to the HP product page for your PC, it came preinstalled with Windows, not with Linux.
HP only provides support for the original OS that comes preinstalled on the PC.
IF you replaced this with a Linux distro, then you are basically on your own.
My suggestion is that you see about contacting the appropriate Ubuntu forums for such support.
Good Luck
