my problems began with MS dos screen appearing and unwanted video pop-ups.
I deleted temporary files & cookies as well as add-ons.
I tested last night. When i signed on today the dos screen hasn't appeared but unwanted videos are in the background. I have tried downloading free virus software only for it to be interrupted nearing the end .. " unable to download messages appear. Im not certain if there is a virus. Firewall is on. any assistance?

Hi@NYchic205,
Thanks for stopping by HP Support Forums.
I came across your post and would like to help.
Unwanted Video Pop Ups on the PC. Is that, correct?
This looks like the virus infection and cannot be blocked by Firewall.
You either need to try a very good antivirus program on the PC or to perform the recovery reinstalling the fresh copy of windows.

Hi@NYchic205,
Thanks for the response.
You can reinstall the operating system not worrying about the data as it will also be infected.
Backing them up would be an unusable effort. Use the link below to perform the recovery on your PC.

Can you do the download on another computer, and copy the download to a USB memory-stick, and then connect that memory-stick to the "problematic" computer, and then install the software from the memory-stick?
Can you remove the disk-drive from the "problematic" computer, and connect it as a "slave" disk-drive to another computer, and then run a virus-scan on that "slave" disk-drive?
Can you use "System Restore" on your "problematic" computer, to "time-warp" your computer back to an earlier date, i.e., a date before the problem first started?

Hi@mdklassen,
Thanks for the response.
Use a USB drive and try installing the app from the drive and check if the infections can be removed?

Resolv_S -- I am not the "author" of this problem. It was I who suggested to the author to use a USB drive.
