Hi:
I recommend you stick with the video cards listed as supported for your 8200 Elite SFF.
The 240W power supply isn't going to handle many others.
Supported video cards are listed at the link below on page 14.

If you would rather try a different card other than those listed that would work with your P/S, then it may or may not work.
They are not necessarily locked out from working.

Hello,
Wondering if someone knows if 8200 Elite SFF supports PCI video cards..
I have a matrox P690 plus lp pci (not pci express) which i used in my 8000 Elite (wonderfully i might add) to expand to 5 monitors. (4 on card + integrated onboard)
When i install the pci card into the slot in 8200 - the machine won't even turn on. Not even a post screen
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Rob

8200 Elite SFF was shipped with some discrete GPU options including ATI HD6350 and HD6450.. However, I actually have the HD6450, which was purchase NEW for another HP Compaq computer that I got from a business and upgraded for use as an entertainment system. After it died, I used the card in another system, with no problems there, either. It WILL NOT WORK in this 8200 worth anything. Repeated driver crashes and blue screens until I yanked it.
This restore is days old, so it is not Windows. Everything else on computer works flawlessly. I even dumped the new ATI/AMD Crimson, did a full driver "wipe" and went back to Catalyst program and drivers install, to no avail (although, it did work better, it still crashed, mostly on large pages of text, as when reading news... gave up)
You need to check your power supply, too... they apparently vary from 220 to 300 watts (with 300 being the top wattage I've seen anyone say they had). Most, from what I have read, have 220 or 240 PSU in them.
BTW: if you have the i5, 4 core... you might want to check your particular chip to see how it stacks up to the 6450.. after some benchmark checks, you really do not get much more out of the stand alone card vs the integrated video! (think it was 8% better, but mainly on textures, it actually lacked in quite a few categories... I have one more 6450 that is only 512MB somewhere, and considered giving it a try, too... but now, I doubt it)
Good luck.

In a follow up to above, I tried the 6450 that is only 512MB with no real luck - the i5's graphix were much better than this card (actually droped the Win Exp a point when ran test and fully understand why). Plays games with no lag whereas this card is choppy at best and still get random crashes / blue screens.
There IS an option to get a replacement power supply, up to 460 watts for this unit now. You can even order it with specific cabling ends for whatever card you get. The trouble is finding a decent SFF card (still looking for one, and going to stay away from AMD/ATI after experiences with 2 of the cards in this system). Some people think a Mini-ATX is a SFF and they are not the same, yet will link to cards they say they used and fit perfectly (maybe with case apart!).
