Hello all.
When the monitor goes to sleep, I cannot seem to wake it up. Keyboard and mouse do nothing. The computer is still on. When I press any of the buttons on the bottom (other than the off button), it searches for the computer and says it cannot find a signal. I end up rebooting the computer.
I have gotten around it by changing the sleep settings (control panel -- power settings -- sleep: NEVER). However, I would like the monitor to turn off when not in use and turn back on when prompted.
Suggestions?
Thanks
keith

I have the same monitor. Try this: push menu on the monitor, select factory reset then go to Source Control and check to see you have the right video source selected for your monitor. If this doesn't work then download the latest video card driver. I am using ATI for my graphics card on my e9280t.
What model PC are you using?

Hello all,
I recently just brought a HP 2159m Monitor from Fry's. I am currently having the same trouble as mentioned from Keith. Everything is fine with the monitor, it works great until I turn off the monitor to save energy and to help my monitor last longer. Everytime when my monitor goes to sleep or when I turn off my monitor, and try turning it back on it can not seem to wake up as Keith has mentioned. The computer is still on and trust me my computer didn't froze up. I did the same pressing the source button and the monitor can't detect any signal and goes back to sleep. I end up doing the same having to force shut down my computer. I also found out that if I unhook the dvi cable on my computer and plug it back in, the monitor will sometime detect my computer signal again. I have updated my video driver and the monitor driver, but this is still happening. I use a Radeon X850 for a video card. I just want to turn my monitor off when I am away from the keyboard, is that too much to ask?
Anyone having the same issue and have an answer to this?
Thanks

There are multiple possibilities for the monitor not waking after a sleep.
1. Video driver needs updating. Go to the manufacturer's web site for the latest driver.
2. PC bios - Many of the bios updates deal with fan, thermal and sleep mode issues.
3. Reseat the video card
In sleep mode the monitor uses about 2 watts of power. I use an APC ES 750 UPS and when my PC goes into hibernation, the UPS detects that situation and shuts off the monitor.

Thank you for the quick reply. I have updated my video card driver and monitor driver already. The only thing I haven't update is my bios. I am going to get a new system soon and I will test out the monitor on that machine, if the same problem occur than there is something wrong with the monitor. I have also heard a lot people are having this issue, some even mentioned that vga is working fine, only the dvi is not working.
Thanks for the quick reply

I am guess that my motherboard or video card is too old and it doesn't support the monitor. I will be getting my new system in the next two day, this system has all the new hardware. I am going to test the monitor on this machine and if it still giving me this problem, I have no choice but to return it and get another one. Thanks for trying to help.

New update for the issue. I just tested the monitor on my new system, everything works fine now. I can turn on and off my monitor with no problem. So I guess it was my old video card or motherboard which is giving me this issue. This is a very nice monitor.
