Hi there,
I recently received this monitor as a replacement for a DOA monitor that I purchased a few weeks back. All was great for the first few days until the monitor unexpected went black while I was using it. The power button still glowed white, but the screen was showing nothing (no backlight either) and the power button become unresponsive. The only solution has been to unplug the power supply and replug it back it.
The problem with this is two fold:
1) it happened in the first place
2) it continues to occur. However, whereas it seemed to only do it ever day, it now will shut off and become unresponsive after only 5 minutes of use and will continue to shut off within those 5 or fewer minutes even after the power supply has been unplugged and replugged.
I don't think it is an issue with the computer or drivers because it happens to both my PC, and two of my Macbook Pros (late 2010 and late 2013). Nor do I believe it an issue with the cords, as it happens to both the VGA and HDMI port.
- It is a HP Pavilion 27xi 27 inch- IPS LED backlit Monitor
Product number: C4D27AA
Manufactured: December 2012 (which is a little frustrating seeing as in how the one I sent back to be replaced with this one was made in May 2015)

Hi there @rcollins218
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel. I understand that you purchased a new monitor and it was DOA, and that your replacement is becoming unresponsive after about 5 minutes or so of use. I am happy to help you with this.
I thank you for the detail you have included in your post about the testing you have tried with multiple interfaces and computers, To me the fact that there is no change at all, between any of them suggests a hardware fault, and that is equally frustrating as you had a DOA monitor in the first place.
If you haven't already, I would suggest you try looking at this document, and try the factory reset.
HP and Compaq Flat Panel Displays - Display Quality Issues
- Press the Auto or Autoselect button on the monitor.
- Press Menu, and select Factory Reset.
- If the monitor has more than one type of connection available such as VGA, DVI, or HDMI, try a different type of connection.
If the problem remains, then it is most likely a hardware issue. In that case I would recommend contacting phone support, and let the person know the details of your situation, including your original purchase date. Please use the following http://www.hp.com/contacthp and create a case for your issue and contact HP. Has there been any resolution to this shut off problem with the 27xi monitor? I've seen a lot of similar comments elsewhere for same problem for this monitor, so HP must definitely be aware of this. Mine shuts off at 50minutes, has to be unplugged. For a very expensive monitor this is totally unexceptable.
So, anyone have any luck with a real fix, or is this a lemon product?

There is no Auto or Menu button on the 27xi, just a power button that stays on when it blanks out. I have to unplug it and repower it to get it back on. I did update the Nvidia Driver, but didn't help. So, how do you "reset" this monitor with no Menu button? Is there a firmware update for it?
