PAVILION
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

In the past 3 weeks I have had very spotty with wifì  connection on my Pavilion desktop. All other devices are working fine. I confirmed it is not an issue with router. Ralink RT5390R 802.11bgn wi-first adapter.

I've confirmed latest, best driver is installeď. I have windows 10 and McAfee.  I haven't changed anything  on my computer and have only started having this issue the past 3 weeks.

I've gotten two separate error messages when running network diagnostics: path to gateway can't be found and one or more network protocols are missing on this computer.

Sometimes if I reset router, I'll get a conection, but sometimes not. My internet just came up, but just as easily will disconnect. I've gone through this on and off cycle àbout 6 times in the last hour. Can you please help?

Hi there @Suer429,

Welcome back to the HP Support Forums!  I understand that you are having some connection issues to your router with your computer. I am happy to assist you with this. Please post the full product number for your computer. See the following, if you need help with that information. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?

Was there any change made to your system three weeks ago when this issue first started, such as some new software, hardware or drivers?

Give these various methods a try: Troubleshooting wireless network and Internet (Windows 10)

Also, you can look at the power management for your wireless adapter:
Disable the Power Off option for the adapter:
1. Open Device Manager. (Win Key+R > type devmgmt.msc > OK)
2. Expand the Network adapters.
3. Right click on the Ethernet/Wireless Adapter and click Properties.
4. Click the Power Management tab.
5. Remove the check mark beside Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
6. Click OK.
7. Test.

Forget a Network (Windows 10): Forget Wireless Network Profiles in Windows 10

Reset the TCP/IP settings on your PC:
1. Go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.
2. Right click on the command prompt icon and chose Run as administrator.
3. In the window that opens type "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt" without quotes, and press enter.
4. Restart your PC and test.

It may also help to reset the winsock catalogue:
1. Go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.
2. Right click on the command prompt icon and chose Run as administrator.
3. In the window that opens type "netsh winsock reset" without quotes, and press enter.
4. Restart your PC and test.

Reinstall the network adapter drivers:
1. Download the drivers from here but do not run them yet.
2. Go to your start screen/menu and type Device Manager.
3. Expand Network adapters.
4. Right click on the wireless adapter and choose Uninstall.
5. Run the downloaded drivers from step 1.
6. Restart your PC and test.

Please let me know whether that works for you, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.

my product name is: p7-1510

product # is: H2M40AA#ABA

I don't think it is the router/modem as I've run diagnostics and other wireless devices are working. I'm thinking it is something specifically with my computer not connecting as it used to. I haven't added any software or made any programming changes to my computer just prior to or during the past three weeks. Are there any known issues that HP is aware of pertaining to wireless connections, specifically in regards to the error statements shared in my initial post? I don't want to run through a bunch of unnecessary steps to correct this. I don't think re-setting the router everytime this happens in the best way to address the issue either.

Thank you for the update. However it is too early to rule out anything which is why I wanted you to try out all of those steps. It could be a corrupt wireless profile, or a compatibility issue between the router and the computer. There is also the possibility that an automatic update could be a culprit.  There could be environmental concerns, unrelated to the computer due to signal issues. It is quite possible to have areas in a home that have worse reception than other areas. It could be due to interference from other devices that are closer, or materials that absorb or reflect a signal. It is also possible to be too close to a wireless signal.
