I have the B&O edition HP Spectre x360. For some reason, only the left speaker is working - this is a huge bummer for me since the speakers was a selling point. I don't know when the right speaker stopped working. Several windows updates and a BIOS update has passed since I last determined that both speakers were functional, so there are unfortunately many confounding factors.
At the moment, I cannot determine whether it's a driver issue, a BIOS/mobo-related issue, or a purely hardware issue (i.e. it's dead). For now, I updated the driver and checked the L/R balance and the issue has not been resolved. I don't believe that it's a driver issue, since both speakers worked perfectly fine with the old driver just a few months ago. I suspect that the right speaker is actually dead, but I don't know how to verify that. It could also be the BIOS update since it's not impossible for BIOS updates to mess with audio, but I've never heard of a BIOS update knocking out just one speaker.
Please advise. Many thanks for your help!

Hi @hsong01,
I hope you enjoy your visit to the HP Support Forums. I understand you are having an issue with just one speaker not working. I would like to assist you today with resolving this issue.
Please post the full product number and operating system in use on your computer. See the following, if you need help with that information.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?
If you plug in a head set and it works with both sides, it is not the BIOS or the audio drivers.
Please get back to me with above information, so I can help you better.

Update: a while after I posted this, the internal power adapter broke (sometime in November? December? I forget) so I had to send in the laptop for a mobo replacement. The mobo replacement did the trick, and it works now.

Hi, I have the same issue on a HP certified refurbished Spectre x360 I just bought. Left speaker was DOA.
Hard reset makes it work perfectly but only for few minutes, then it turns off again. Considering this, I can only assume there is no hardware failure since the speaker works perfectly after a hard reset but there's something shutting down the left channel after few minutes.
No issues on headphones output.
Any ideas how I could permanently fix it?
Thank you!
Catalin
