My notebook failes to boot. As it is starting I see the message preparing automatic repair then the blue screen comes up with Recovery There was a problem with a device connected to your pc. An unexpected I/O error occured .
File:\windows\system32\winload.efi error code 0xc00000e9 and no matter the option selected the same thing occurs. Even trying to boot to recovery.
I downloaded Win10 via the tool and made a usb efi boot flash drive and it fails with a error. Windos has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer.
File:\windows\system32\boot\winload.efi same error code.
I did load the flash drive with both 32 & 64 bit versions. The error occurs botting either version. I finaly got into the diagnostic and ran the complete test with everything passing. What do I try now?

Hi @Mike161,
Thank you for posting on HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. For you to have the best experience on the HP forum, you could also visit our HP Forums Guide for the First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
As I understand you are getting an error message on startup on your HP notebook. Don't worry as I'll try my best to help you with this,
Let's try these steps here:
Run an extensive test on the Hard drive from F2
Depending on the test results, If it passes, I would suggest you perform a System recovery using the partition available on your PC. Doing this will wipe off everything from the computer. Please remember to backup all your important data. If this option fails which means either the partition is corrupted or system file is missing.
Link to perform recovery: Click here
The only other way to install Windows would be to order the recovery media for your laptop and using the recovery media you can install Windows. You can check if the recovery media is available online on www.hp.com/drivers by entering the exact model no. of your laptop. To find the exact model no. click here: http://hp.care/2bygf7l
Otherwise, you could also reach HP phone support to order the recovery media. Please fill in the product details to get the tech support number.
Please use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:
Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

Hi There.
I am getting same issue. What was the end result? Was it a hardware issue even though the diagnostics are passing all the hardware? I have a case with HP for this laptop and thankfully it's still under warranty.
