Please Help Me

My grandson school computer keeps freezing on heavy activity. I think the cooling fan is working because I think I hear it running but is much quieter than my other HP.

I know it is an older laptop and running Vista but it is all we can afford for him. He has Muscular Dystrophy (HD) and it is all we can afford.

Any idea on where to start with doing any type of diagnostics to see what could be wrong?

Thank you in advance?

Mr. Steve

Get into the BIOS (F10 as you power up) and run the hard drive self-test. A likely answer on a laptop of that age is a dying hard drive.
