That worked but now it's saying windows failed to start, a recent hardware or software change might be the cause.
Insert your windows installation disc if yoy do not have one can tact your computer manufacturer for assistance.

Hi,

Good to hear it worked.

If the power on password just appeared out of the blue, it can indicate a problem with the hard drive which would also be consistent with the error message regarding the boot device - you can check this as follows.

Shut down the notebook.  Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to enter the Start-up Menu.  Select the Bios option ( f10 ) and under the Advanced or Diagnostic tab you should find the facility to run tests on the Hard Drive.

Note:  If the option to run these tests is not available in the Bios Menu, use the f2 diagnostic menu instead.

Post back with the details of any error messages.

Regards,

So I ran the test and it says, "primary hard disk self test: passed
Test status: 0 (completed without error)"

When it trys to boot it says,
"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.
To fix: insert your windows installation disc.
If you do not have the disc (which I do not) contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer.

So I'm wondering if the hard drive got wiped somehow.....
