Product: Pavilion dv7

I want to take my laptop on the go without worrying about finding a outlit every 40 seconds. I looked through the "power and sleep settings" but nothing appealed to my problem. I don't know if this is just something all HPs do, or if I do have a problem. PLEASE HELP!!!
