Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Problem description

A new laptop that is used by different employees in our organization is stuck on the Power-On Authentication because it requires a password that we don't know anymore.

Steps taken to try to solve the issue

Step 1: phone support with HP: this issue requires a reset of the bios than can only be fixed by buying a new motherboard

Step 2: equipment brought to my reseller: reseller confirms that only HP can fix it and did sent the equipment to HP

Step 3: feedback from hp:  we don't want to replace the motherboard!

What now?

What options do we have apart from scrapping a new laptop from over 700 €?
